As a responsible corporate citizen, Saudi Arabian Chevron actively contributes
to the communities in which it operates and its employees and their families
live, and to worthy organizations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State
of Kuwait. In doing so, Saudi Arabian Chevron's sense of social responsibility flows from the
traditional values of the region and The Chevron Way.
Community Medical Care
Saudi Arabian Chevron's fully equipped hospital at Mina Saud continues to provide primary,
secondary, maternity, pediatric, emergency and dental health care to employees,
their dependents and retirees, and to other area residents. In addition,
the hospital's satellite clinic at Wafra provides a more limited scope of
services to employees and contractors.
Other Community Outreach
Within the PNZ, including the town of Al-Khafji , Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , the
company provided substantial support for primary and secondary boys' and girls'
schools, with educational equipment, recognition awards for outstanding
students and other program assistance. In addition, nonprofit organizations in
the Kingdom and the PNZ have benefited from computers and other peripherals
donated by the Company.
The company continues to provide high school students with summer programs training at Mina Saud and Al-Khafji.
Children of employees and others were given classes in English, computer skills
and safety, health and environmental protection, including defensive driving.
The recreation and wellbeing of employees and their families are, of course, top
priority, and the Company supported a range of activities, ranging from
sporting teams and children's scouting to the annual spring horse racing
carnival of the Al-Khafji Horse Club, under the continued patronage of H.E. the
Governor of Al-Khafji.
Education Beyond the PNZ
Consistent with the premium that Saudi Arabian Chevron places on the development of its human
resources, the Company is active at all levels in supporting the education of
young Saudi nationals and in helping meet the special educational needs of
youth in the Kingdom, Kuwait and the PNZ.
Saudi Arabian Chevron provides scholarships to Saudi students nominated by the Kingdom's
Ministry of Higher Education for study abroad. These competitively selected
students will bring back the educational preparation and qualifications needed
to make important contributions to building the future of the Kingdom.
We continue to support the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in
Dhahran, the Middle East's leading research and educational institution in
energy. Saudi Arabian Chevron is one of the leading companies represented at the university's
career day, a primary recruiting ground for young Saudi graduates.
We also continue to assists institutions and programs that address the needs of
children with special educational requirements and physical and mental
challenges, including those that conduct medical research and provide therapy
and special learning environments.
The Company sponsors the Student Art
Competition, which attracts hundreds of entries from numerous institutions.
Among the aims of the competition is the creation of awareness, amongst these
children, of the importance of protecting the environment.
Saudi Arabian Chevron contributes to a wide range of educational institutions in
Saudi Arabia , particularly in the town of Al-Khafji , and in the villages of
Mina Saud and Wafra. In many cases, the Company has been providing support for
decades in the form of grants, in-kind contributions, and volunteers, and has
developed a deep and lasting relationship with students and the community.
The Company also has provided a wide range of services for school facilities
and for special events. Saudi Arabian Chevron's ongoing involvement is directly contributing to
building promising futures for the PNZ's most precious resource - its youth.
Corporate Citizenship
Saudi Arabian Chevron provides financial and moral support for other worthy organizations in the
region, including job training, educational programs and greening and
beautification activities conducted by local government throughout the PNZ. It
also helps underwrite the valuable work of a Dammam-based charity working to
preserve the Arabian Peninsula 's cultural, historical and geographical
heritage.
Saudi Arabian Chevron participates in - and in some cases helps sponsor - energy
industry conferences and exhibitions for earth science-related professionals.
Foremost among these are the Middle East Oil and Gas Conference (MEOS),
at which Saudi Arabian Chevron professionals delivers technical papers, and the
annual professional development conference of the Kuwait Section of the
American Society of Safety Engineers. The Company is also represented at
professional conferences regionally and globally.
At the corporate level, Chevron provided financial support for preserving a
unique film archive that documents the birth and early years of development of
the energy industry in the Kingdom. The Corporation also contributed to a
leading charitable and educational institution that improves the lives of women
and children, while fostering cultural, education and professional dialog
between the Arab world and the United States.
